At 9,842 feet high and 252 miles from Lhasa, Bayi is a burgeoning frontier town in southeastern Tibet. As the political, economic, and cul­tural center of the Nyingchi Prefecture, it resembles a garden spot, covered with green and flowering plants all year round. Traffic con­ditions here are excellent, and architectural styles are unique and various. The town is also blessed with comprehensive facilities for science, education, medi­cine, communication, com­merce, and culture, as well as places for recreation and relaxation.
