Valley of Strange Rocks

Also known as the Ravine of Strange Rocks, this site is in the mountainous area, about 30 miles northeast of downtown Bole. Covering an area of about 38 square miles, the valley is home to a rare group of enormous rocks, famous for their often bizarre shapes. Some of them look like peacocks spreading their tails to display their fine feathers; some like elephants drinking water; some like ancient castles, pavilions, or Buddhist caves. The strange yet beautiful scenery was formed by thousands of years of wind and water erosion and earthquakes. Tourists visit and reflect on the extraordinary creativity of nature.
