Guangdong Guild Hall

The Guangdong Guild Hall on Nanmenli Street, Nankai District, was built in 1907, under the reign of Emperor Guang Xu of the Qing Dynasty and co-funded by Guangdong businessmen. It became the Tianjin Museum of Drama in 1986 and is the largest and most exquisitely decorated and preserved Qing guild hall in Tianjin. The whole complex comprises 125 buildings, including a porch hall, a grand hall, side halls, a theater, a crossing courtyard, and sets of apartments. Among them, the north-facing theater with its vast internal space is a must-see, constructed as it is with wonderful workmanship. It is a rarity to see such a well-preserved area in China's ancient buildings.
