Temple of Great Compassion (Dabei Yuan)

The Temple of Great Compassion is an enormous and well-preserved Buddhist temple in Tianjin. Located at 26 Tianwei Road, Hebei District, it has a western and an eastern yard. The eastern yard, known as the Old Temple, was built in 1858 during the Qing Dynasty; the western yard, or New Temple, was built in 1940 and contains the main building of the whole temple, the Maravira Hall. A guild bronze Sakyamuni Buddha statue is enshrined there.
