Koxinga Memorial Temple

Located along Kaishan Road in Tainan, the temple was built in honor of Koxinga (1624-1662), who defeated the Dutch and recaptured and developed Taiwan. Since Koxinga was loyal to the Ming Dynasty and against the Qing Dynasty, the temple was later renamed Kaishan Temple to avoid finding fault with the Qing government.
