Xichang Earthquake-Recording Pillar Forest

Located in Guangfu Temple in Lushan, south of Xichang, the Xichang Earthquake-Recording Pillar Forest contains more than 100 stone pillars. They have recorded several strong earthquakes that have taken place throughout history in places like Xichang, Mianning, Ganluo, and Ningnan. Situated in the fault zone between Anning River and Zemu River, Xichang is one of the major earthquake regions in southwest China. The strong earthquakes in this region provide scholars with useful information for research, and this center, together with Xi'an Pillar Forest in Shaanxi, Qufu Pillar Forest in Shandong, and Gaoxiong Pillar Forest in Taiwan, are known as the four largest pillar forests in China.
