Luding Bridge

Luding Bridge spans the Dadu River in Lud-ing County. It was built in 1705, the forty-fourth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Thirteen chains support the side posts as well as those for the bridge floor. The bridge measures 328 feet long and 9.5 feet wide. The towers at the two sides are ancient wooden buildings with a unique style. At the west end of the bridge, under the Kwan-yin Pavilion, is a stone pillar on which the three characters denoting Luding Qiao were inscribed by Emperor Kangxi.
