Lake Qionghai is the sec­ond-largest freshwater lake in Sichuan, located about 4 miles from downtown Xichang, with Mount Lushan to the southeast and Mount Luojishan to the south. It covers an area of 12 square miles. extending at its longest 7 miles from north to south, and at its widest 3 miles from east to west. The average depth is about 46 feet, with the deepest point at 112 feet. The lake is situated on a frac­tured and subsided basin. Lake Qionghai is famous for its picturesque and peaceful landscape. There are more than 40 kinds of fish in it.
