Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park

Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park is located on the eastern side of Gongga Mountain in Luding County, 33 miles from the county seat. Hailuogou alaciers can be as long as 9 or 10 miles. The park encompasses many geographic attractions, including ancient glaciers, enormous glacier cascades, virgin forests, wild animals, and hot springs. Classified as a modern glacier, those in Hailuogou came into being around 16 million years ago. They are rarely found either in low-latitude or low-altitude places. The lowest measurement in the glacier park is only 9,350 feet above sea level. With an elevation of 19,685 feet, Hailuogou has seven climatic zones, and its vegetation varies at different altitudes, making it a rare natural botanical garden. There are 4,800 plant species and 400 animal species in the forested area. There are also many varieties of flowers, the most familiar of which are azalea, magnolia, primrose, orchid, and rough gentian.
