Dege Sutra-Printing

Dege Sutra-Printing House, also called Dege Auspicious and Wisdom-Gathering House, is located in Dege County. It was built in the seventh year of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty by Chokyi Tenpa Tser-ing (1687-1738), the twelfth headman and sixth dharma-raja of Dege. It is now a famous treasury of Tibetan culture and arts. The Dege block edition of the Great Scriptures, which was cut in the Qing Dynasty, is well known. The Printing House is the largest of the three big sutra-printing houses in the Tibetan regions of China (Lhasa sutra-printing House in Tibet, Lhapuleng House in Gansu, and Dege Parkhang in Sichuan).
