Shanghai

Shanghai (Chinese pinyin: Shànghǎi) is the largest city by population in China and the largest city proper in the world. It is one of the four province-level municipalities in the People's Republic of China, with a population of over 23 million as of 2010. Due to its rapid development over the last two decades it has again become a global city, exerting influence over commerce, finance, media, fashion, technology and culture. Today Shanghai is a major financial centre and the busiest container port in the world.
