Temple of Princes

With a history of more than 1,300 years, the Temple of Princess Wencheng is built in Yushu, southeast of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In 641 the princess married the Lord of Tibet. When she passed by Yushu, she loved the place so much that she made a brief stay. She taught local citizens farming and weaving.

Built against the cliffs of the Beina Valley, the temple is a typical Tibetan-style building. It is 31 feet tall, with 3 stories and covers an area of 6,458 square feet. The temple is famous for the figure of Princess Wencheng and numerous sutra lines carved on the nearby cliffs.
