Guangji Temple, also known as Great Buddha Temple, is in the downtown section of Jinzhou. It was originally built during the Liao Dynasty and has gone through centuries of devastation and reconstruction. Now the site of the Jinzhou Museum, the buildings are in a quadrangle, around which are the Guangji Temple and the celebrated Liao Tower, with its 940-year history, which was constructed to preserve the Buddha's relics.
