Songhua Lake

Songhua Lake, the biggest man-made lake in Jilin Province, lies on the Songhua River, about 15 miles southeast of Jilin city. The Songhua Lake is narrow and long, surrounded by steep hills and hazardous peaks. The major scenic spots include Golden Turtle Island, Camel Peak, North Tian Mountain, Five-Tiger Island, Crouching Dragon Pool, Phoenix Dancing Pool, Stone Dragon Wall, and Intoxicated Stone Slope. From December through March is the prime time for sking in the Songhua Lake ski area. The area encompasses two high mountain ski runs, a cable lift, a 16,400-foot-long natural ski slope, a 164-foot ski jump, and two hunting areas.
