Heavenly Queen Temple (Tianhou Gong)

Located on Zhonghua Road, Heavenly Queen Temple was built during the Kangxi Period of the Qing Dynasty (1662-1722) for merchants of Fujian origin to offer their sacrifices. This temple was built by d'Entrecolles, a French missionary. It is said that a wealthy Frenchman survived a shipwreck when he was crossing the Atlantic because of the blessing by the Heavenly Queen, so he promised to build a temple for her with all his property. He chose this site to build the temple. Inside there is an arch, a stage, the Heavenly Queen Palace, the Sanzun Palace, and other fascinating and lovely structures. The subject of the relief sculptures inside the palace is mostly sea transportation.
