Diaoyuan Village (Diaoyuan Cun)

Located 11 miles from Ji'an city, Diaoyuan Village is a place where the descendants of Ouyang Xiu, a famous man of letters in the Northern Song Dynasty, lived. The village itself is more than 1,100 years old and consists of two naturally formed villages, Weixi and Zhuangshan, separated from each other by an S-shaped mountain, Chang'an Mountain (Chang'an Ling). In the village of Zhuangshan there is a chain of ponds, and in the north is Duimen Mountain (Duimen Shan), both of which run east to west, as does Chang'an Mountain. The two mountains, with the chain of ponds in between, resemble the Li Diagram of the traditional Eight Diagrams. The Temple to Wenzhong Gong (Wenzhong Gong Ci) in the village is a modestly ornate temple in memory of Ouyang Xiu.
