Tongtian Rock Grotto (Tongtian Yan Shiku)
Tongtian Rock Grotto is situated about 6 miles northwest of Ganzhou City. Constructed during the Tang Dynasty, it reached its peak in the Song Dynasty.There are 359 figurines carved in the grotto from both the Tang and the Song dynasties, along with 128 inscriptions dating from the Song Dynasty to the Republic of China. At present the grotto consists of Wanggui Rock (Wanggui Yan), Tongxin Rock (Tongxin Yan), Tongtian Rock (Tongtian Yan), and Cuiwei Rock (Cuiwei Yan). On the cliffside of the grotto there are figurines and inscriptions, which make the spot look like an open-air museum. Tongtian Rock has been a famous mountain for Buddhists ever since the Tang and Song dynasties.
