Zhan Garden (Zhan Yuan)
Situated at 208 Zhanyuan Road in Nanjing, Zhan Garden is the oldest existing garden in Nanjing. It was once the residence of Prince Wu, where Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, lived before he claimed the crown. In the Qing Dynasty, when Emperor Qianlong made his inspection tour of southern China, he wrote a dedication to this garden. The western section of the garden exemplifies the classical gardening art of Suzhou with its delicate layout.
