Inscription of the Tang Envoy to Hindu

This inscription appears on a cliff wall, which is about 50 feet wide and 13 feet high, in a valley about 3 miles north of Jilong County, in the Shigatse region. It was discovered in 1990. Experts in Tibetan history believe that in 657 Wang Xuance, envoy of the Tang Dynasty to Hindu, left this precious inscription when he traveled past this valley. The inscription is a record of his journey, and it is also the most ancient stone inscription discovered in Tibet up to this point.
