Eastern Qing Tombs

At the foot of Changrui Mountain about 80 miles from the heart of Beijing, you will find the Eastern Qing Tombs, the largest and most complete complex of imperial tombs in China. Built during the Qing Dynasty (mid-seventeenth century), the complex holds 15 tombs for five emperors, 14 empresses, and 136 concubines. There are dozens of magnificent structures such as the Stone Arch in the north end and the Spirit Path (Shendao). Bridges, gates, and underground chambers filled with Buddhist art and inscriptions are well worth a visit.
