Zunyi Conference Site
The Zunyi Conference Site is located at 80 Hongqi Road (the former Ziyin Road) in the old town of Zunyi, formerly known as Pipaqiao. The conference site is a two-story brick-and-wood building, which faces the south and combines Eastern and Western construction styles. The gable-and-hip roof features a "tiger window." Around the building are the so-called Baosha corridors. The site is composed of the main building and the courtyard. The main building is encircled by winding corridors and is equipped with shutter-shaped doors and windows. At both the east and west ends are winding staircases with wooden fences. The entire building is 56 feet deep, 84 feet wide, and 40 feet high and covers an area of 5,680 square feet. The front gate of the building faces the street and was once flanked by eight storefronts. At the entrance hall is a huge brick archway bearing colorful embedded characters: Weihi in the front and Shendu at the back. Through the archway is a small yard; to its south is a side door leading to an interior square courtyard, and to its north is the main building. The building, considered the grandest of all in Zunyi in the 1930s, was the private residence of Bai Huizhang, commander of the second division of the 25th Corps of the former Guizhou troops.
