China tour-- Tea-Picking Opera

China tour news: Tea-picking opera, also referred to as "tea song" and "tea-picking song" is a kind of Chinese folk dance, popular in China's southern tea-growing regions, such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces populated by the Han ethnic group.

A tea-picking opera performance usually involves a pair consisting of a man and a woman or a group consisting of one man and two women. Later, it developed into a group dance performed by several or even a dozen people. The movements in tea-picking opera mimic those of picking tea leaves and, later, those of life activities such as combing hair and applying makeup; or they depict the romantic sentiments of a young man and woman in love.
