Thatched Hut (Cao’an) Manichean Historic Site

Located at the foot of Huabiao Mountain in Sunei Village on the Jinjiang River, 8 miles from the south gate of Quanzhou, the Thatched Hut is the only intact Manichean historical site in China. The most precious treasure here is a sitting statue of the Buddha of Litht embossed in a round Buddhist niche in the main hall. The face, body, and hands of the statue are skillfully designed to take advantage of various natural hues of the rocks. It is the only stone "Buddha of Light" statue in the world.
