Longkong Cave (Longkong Dong)

Longkong Cave, located in the village of Longkang of Yanshi in the Xinluo District

of Longyan, is 30 miles from the downtown area. Featuring a karst landform, Longkong Cave was formed during the Paleozoic Era about 300 million years ago. After three major crustal movements of the ocean floor, the cave gradually evolved into the current form and is listed as the one of the most enormous caves in China. There are 8 halls and 16 subcaves in the cave and the passage inside is more than 6,500 feet long.
